Choices & Tips for your Ski Accommodation

Your Stay

The most expensive accommodation is always near the ski lifts, if you have a walk or a courtesy bus journey from your accommodation to the slopes consider how to manage this, particularly with children in tow.

Walking in Ski Boots carrying Skis and Poles is not that easy, but a ten minute walk isn't the end of the world. Remember, don't fully fasten the catches on your boots while walking, but remember to fasten them securely before you get on the Ski Lifts.

Some residences are 'Ski in - Ski out' where you can put on your skis and ski down to the ski lifts, the best choice if available and you can afford it.

For a budget option look for accommodation with a short journey to the slopes, but where a courtesy ski bus is available, this will usually be free.

Consider the ease and length of your journey, whether walking or bus, in relation to getting to your Ski School lessons on time. It can often be a panic getting everyone dressed and into ski gear and out of the door in time in a morning.

Also some resorts have 'ski lockers' near the lifts, and for a fee you can sometimes leave your skis overnight at a hire shop. If you have driven and there is a car park near the slopes you can use your car to store your skis in overnight, but make sure they are covered and out of sight.

As with any holiday resort there are a range of accommodation choices; self catering apartments, chalets and hotels. Read on and choose according to your budget, comfort and preferred holiday style.
