Planning the ideal Skiing Package Holiday

Travel

Certainly the most stress free way to organise your first holiday, all the arrangements are taken care of for you, no worries about finding the resort, driving in snow or organising your necessities, and a representative in the resort to help you with any questions or difficulties. Just make sure you have packed your essentials and the rest is taken care of for you.

No different to a Summer sun holiday, your representative will meet you at the destination airport and travel with you by coach to your Ski resort.

On the journey you will usually be handed out information about the resort and vouchers for any items you have pre-booked like equipment hire or tuition. You may also be given your lift passes or details of where to pick them up from. This is a good time for any questions you may have about your first day.

Your representative will explain where and when to collect your Ski equipment and where the meeting points for lessons are.

You will be dropped off in your resort as near as possible as the coach can get to your accommodation. Narrow roads and snow conditions may mean that you have a bit of a walk with your bags, remember to travel dressed for the weather, particularly footwear, and look out for icy steps.

Apartment sizes are similar to what you may book on a Summer Sun package holiday, but don't forget that you may have snowy clothing to dry, and you may spend more time in your apartment in an evening, so if you can afford to upgrade to a slightly larger apartment when booking, it may be worth it for the extra comfort.

Last year we were lucky enough to go on 2 Skiing trips and stayed in Hotels for the first time, not our usual Self Catering holiday. One trip was 'Half Board' in Austria and an 'All Inclusive' in Italy. Both Hotels were excellent with good food and we picked these up as late bookings at a bargain price so look around.

Also take advantage of the free escourted Ski Trips that many operators offer, maybe on your second holiday as you will have to be of a reasonable standard to keep up with the party, but it makes for a great sociable day out and an opportunity to discover the ski area.
