Arranging Flights for your Skiing Holiday

Travel

Flights - The most popular option for skiers and boarders, included in package holidays but it is also possible to organise your own flights as part of a DIY package.

Many of the budget airlines fly to destinations that are handy for Ski resorts, and you can make considerable savings by travelling on weekdays if you have the flexibility. You will need to arrange onward travel to your resort by rail, minibus, taxi or hire a car for your onward journey. Don't forget you will have bags and maybe ski equipment to carry from the airport to where you begin your onward journey, though most airports have on site car hire, taxi firms, bus and minibus pick up points. Again check the locations when you are booking.

Consider using a 'Meet and Greet' service at the airport you are flying from, this greatly reduces any stress of arriving with all your bags and equipment. Usually you just phone the service about 15 minutes before you arrive at the airport and someone will meet you near the departures and take your car and park it at their facility. On arriving back from your holiday you phone them when you have cleared customs and they will bring your car. Often we have found that this is not too much more than a normal car park fee.

When we arrive at the airport with 2 kids, 4 sets of Skis, Boots and our bags , the convenience of this cannot be overstated!

Some airports have reasonably priced on site parks, and the off site parks usually provide a great service in transfer buses.
